SERVICE IS LAUNCHED IN PENNSYLVANIA AS NORTHEAST PRESENCE IS EXPANDED
HACKENSACK, NJ (January 12, 2001) – Wave2Wave
Communications, a High-Speed Wireless Internet Service Provider, has
launched service in Pennsylvania, increasing the company’s presence in
the Northeast region to include New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and
Pennsylvania. Wave2Wave will initially provide service in York,
Harrisburg and Allentown, expanding into other surrounding cities in
the upcoming weeks.
"Our market research shows that there is a tremendous need for reliable
high-speed Internet access in these business communities," commented
Steven Asman, President and CEO of the Company. "Our strategy has been,
and will continue to be, to provide service in markets that do not have
affordable access to high-speed Internet service and are being
underserved. Once a customer signs up for our service, we can provide
them with service within 5 to 7 days."
The existing telephone network was designed to carry voice traffic, and
as such data transmission is not optimized when carried over the
traditional network and is done at relatively slow speeds creating a
major bottleneck. Wave2Wave Communications provides an effective
solution for this bottleneck by cutting out the local telephone carrier
(the local loop provider). High-speed transport is critical to the
success of many enterprises that need to take full advantage of
bandwidth-intensive data applications, such as Internet access,
intranets, and e-mail.
