HIGH-SPEED WIRELESS SERVICE IS DEPLOYED IN NEW YORK, EXPANDING WAVE2WAVE'S PRESENCE IN THE TRI-STATE AREA
HACKENSACK, NJ (August 31, 2000) – Wave2Wave Communications, a High-Speed Wireless Internet Service Provider, today announced that it is has begun providing service in New Rochelle, New York. The Company is deploying a national network and will be in over 50 markets by the end of this year.
The rapid growth of bandwidth-intensive communication services, such as Internet access, data transport, audio and video streaming and e-commerce applications, has created an increasingly acute shortage of transmission capacity across the last mile. The Company’s fixed wireless infrastructure provides an optimal solution for delivering broadband capacity to the end user.
Wave2Wave is able to connect customers at a cost that is substantially less than in a fiber-build strategy. This significant cost advantage enables the Company to economically deliver broadband capacity, services and applications to a larger addressable market than would otherwise be possible with fiber or other facilities-based broadband alternatives.
"We anticipate the same success in the New Rochelle market as we have had initially in New Jersey and Connecticut. Deploying point-to-point and point-to-multi-point connections from the New Rochelle "POP", will allow us to expand our reach into surrounding cities and significantly increase our customer base in this market", said Steven Asman, President and CEO.
